Rosmah to attend Istanbul summit

KUALA LUMPUR: The prime minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, will be in Istanbul, Turkey, for three days beginning Thursday for the 2011 Global Summit of Women.


The summit, themed "Women: Bridging solutions to the 21st century", is an annual forum where eminent personalities and national leaders draw up the direction, strategy and programmes towards enhancing women's economic and entrepreneurial advancement.


It also provides opportunities for participants to exchange views and share their experiences on good practices to raise the living standards of women, said a statement issued by Wisma Putra here yesterday.


Since its inception in 1992, the summit had gained a reputation as an important forum, which brings together women leaders from the public and private sectors in various fields from all over the world.


Rosmah is scheduled to give a speech and will be one of the panel members at the first ladies' forum on Friday, together with the Turkish prime minister's wife, Emine Erdogan, and Namibian first lady, Penehupifo Pohamba.Rosmah will be accompanied by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and the Deputy Prime Minister's wife, Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman.


Tomorrow, Rosmah is scheduled to attend the small and medium industry development organisation for networking and dialogue session with Malaysian women entrepreneurs in Istanbul. -- Bernama
