The British left Malaya with an excellent system of education but it has been screwed up as early as the late 70s. Infact it can be traced back much earlier when the system was changed from English to BM, this is where the Rot began.
Today we see that Malaysian Students are facing mental stress, some have resorted to suicide and many live in utter depression. It's the rat race which parents have gotten in with their career and social demands, Hence their expectation on their children escalates to a point of madness! Worst still, teachers get into the profession simply because they had no better option. Racism is another growing factor in Malaysian schools today where racial segregation is rather apparent and troubling.
If only the government takes a look at the system of education in New Zealand and Australia but then again (as always) enforcement will only last for a week or two, racial and religious politicking takes centre stage, history gets twisted and the education system suffers miserably...
